The invention belongs to the field of garden facilities, and particularly relates to a self-clearing type step for a garden and a clearing method thereof. The self-clearing type step comprises pedal assemblies which are arranged on steps and are distributed in a stepped mode; each pedal assembly consists a conveyor belt, a fixed belt, an elastic mechanism, a cleaning roller and an air blowing mechanism, wherein the cleaning roller can perform friction clearing on the surface of the conveyor belt; the air blowing mechanism can perform air-blowing cleaning on the surface of the conveyor belt; and the conveyor belt and the cleaning roller can realize transmission connection through a gear set. According to the self-clearing type step disclosed by the invention, the steps can be set in the forms of conveyor belts which move towards one direction all the time by utilizing energy generated in a walking process of staff such that fallen leaves on the steps are automatically cleaned; and meanwhile, the cleaning rollers and the air blowing mechanisms can be arranged to avoid a condition that the fallen leaves adhered on the conveyor belts are difficult to drop.
