The invention provides a construction site safety monitoring system and method for pipeline engineering construction. The safety monitoring method comprises the following steps: acquiring a video of aconstruction site monitoring area in real time and performing frame extraction processing; carrying out key point scanning on a to-be-monitored person in a video subjected to frame extraction processing through a human body key point detection algorithm, and locking a to-be-inspected part of the to-be-monitored person under the condition that the human body image key point of the to-be-monitoredperson meets a key point allowable value; and through a big data classification training method, comparing and analyzing the image of the part to be subjected to security check with images in a classification training database to obtain a security check result, wherein the classification training database comprises image data of unqualified security check of the part to be subjected to security check. The construction site safety monitoring system comprises a video acquisition device, a security check part locking device and a comparative analysis device, and the method can be realized throughthe system. The beneficial effects of the invention are that the safe and intelligent monitoring of a pipeline engineering construction site is achieved.
