The invention provides a novel water stop ridge and a construction method, and relates to the technical field of building construction. The novel water stop ridge comprises water stop plates which arevertically arranged and higher than the ground at the two sides, a waterproof cement layer wrapping the water stop plates, a dry slurry cement layer covering the waterproof cement layer, a waterprooflayer coating the surface of the dry slurry cement layer, and a decorative layer arranged on the surface of the waterproof layer, and the water stop plates are thin plates made of waterproof materials. Compared with a water stop ridge in the prior art, the novel water stop ridge has better and more reliable waterproofness.
