The invention discloses a pedal type universal kitchen garbage collecting barrel and a use method thereof. The pedal type universal kitchen garbage collecting barrel is arranged below a water pool andcomprises a box body, a solid-liquid separation mechanism, and a rotating plate mechanism; an inlet connected with a water outlet of the water pool is formed in the upper end of the box body; two sewage discharging channels are formed in the bottom of the box body, namely a first sewage discharging channel arranged right below the inlet and a second sewage discharging channel arranged on one sideof the first sewage discharging channel; a garbage collecting device is arranged below the second sewage discharging channel; the solid-liquid separation mechanism is arranged in the box body and comprises a first filter plate and a second filter plate; the first filter plate is obliquely arranged between the inlet and the first sewage discharging channel; the second filter plate is horizontallyarranged at the tail end of the first filter plate and is located above the second sewage discharging channel; and the rotating plate mechanism is used for changing the second filter plate from a horizontal state to an inclined state. According to the pedal type universal kitchen garbage collecting barrel and the method, solid and waste liquid separation can be achieved, and kitchen garbage collection can be conveniently achieved.
