The invention relates to the technical field of bridge construction, in particular to a method for constructing a large-span unsupported steel box girder through an overhanging process, which comprises the following steps: 1, constructing a temporary support foundation; 2, manufacturing a temporary supporting system; 3, dividing the steel box girder into sections; 4, hoisting the side span steel box girder component; 5, hoisting a main span steel box girder; 6, selecting a lifting appliance, a clamping ring and a lifting rope; and 7, hoisting in-place control of the main body structural member. According to the construction method of the large-span support-free steel box girder constructed by the cantilever process, a construction method of arranging a support at the gravity center position is adopted, so that the stability of a support system for supporting a steel structural member can meet the construction requirement, and the stability of an unsupported part of the steel structuralmember is guaranteed. The construction efficiency is remarkably improved, the construction period is shortened, and a foundation is laid for advanced completion of the whole project.
