The invention relates to the field of building external sunshade, in particular to a guide rail for a fabric roller shutter and a mounting method. A guide rail fixing base of the guide rail serves asa supporting structure to be fixedly mounted on a mounting face, and a guide rail sealing bottom is inserted into the tail end; an outer cover is fixedly mounted on the guide rail fixing base; the guide rail fixing base and the outer cover define a guide groove internally provided with a cavity; a positioning step is arranged at the opening of the cavity; a catching groove is clamped in the cavity; a sliding groove is inserted into the catching groove; the sliding groove is provided with a tensioning end face and a rail allowing the side edge of the fabric roller shutter to be inserted; and anelastic part is arranged between the tensioning end face and the catching groove. The guide rail fixing base and the guide rail outer cover are arranged to define the guide groove, the catching groove is clamped in the guide groove, the sliding groove is inserted into the catching groove, and the fabric roller shutter is guided. According to the mounting method, mounting fasteners are ingeniouslyhidden in the guide rail according to the assembly sequence of all the parts, the attractiveness of the product is improved, and meanwhile the construction efficiency of field mounting is improved.
