The invention relates to the field of thermal insulation materials, and particularly discloses an inorganic light flame-retardant external wall thermal insulation board, which is prepared from the following raw materials: an inorganic light mineral material, rock wool, fly ash, expanded vermiculite, light magnesium oxide, aluminum hydroxide, anti-cracking fibers, an inorganic cementing material, awaterproof auxiliary agent, a plasticizer and purified water. The invention further discloses a preparation method of the inorganic light flame-retardant external wall insulation board. In order to solve the problem that an existing external wall insulation board is easy to ignite due to the fact that organic materials are adopted, the inorganic light flame-retardant external wall insulation board is prepared through reasonable compatibility of raw materials, has the excellent properties of aging resistance, water resistance, incombustibility, low heat conductivity coefficient, efflorescenceresistance and the like, most of the raw materials are natural minerals, and the inorganic light flame-retardant external wall insulation board has the advantage of low cost.
