The invention discloses a porous ceramic and a preparation method thereof. The porous ceramic is composed of solid mixed powder and organic slurry, and the mass ratio of the solid mixed powder to theorganic slurry is 100:(10-20); the solid mixed powder comprises the following raw materials in parts by weight: 40-60 parts of alumina powder, 5-15 parts of plant ash, 5-15 parts of flour and 20-30 parts of low-temperature glass glaze powder; and the organic slurry comprises the following raw materials in parts by weight: 1-4 parts of polypropylene glycol and 1-16 parts of polyethylene glycol. Theporous ceramic provided by the invention has the characteristics of high through hole porosity, stable porosity, good pore distribution uniformity, high strength and uniform density distribution, anddoes not generate the problems of powder falling, embrittlement, deformation and the like in the use process. The preparation method of the porous ceramic is simple in process, high in repeatability,wide in raw material source, low in raw material and equipment cost and suitable for industrial production, and has an excellent industrial application prospect.
