The invention discloses a delayed coagulation type concrete admixture and a preparation method thereof. The delayed coagulation type concrete admixture comprises, by weight, 25-35 parts of a delayed coagulation component, 10-18 parts of a water reduction component, 45-55 parts of a drought strength component, 8-16 parts of a water retention component and 85-135 parts of water. The delayed coagulation component is prepared from 10-18 parts of sodium gluconate, 10-18 parts of cane sugar, 6-12 parts of citric acid, 4-10 parts of phosphate, 12-22 parts of maltodextrin and 3-9 parts of auxiliary components. According to the concrete admixture prepared from the delayed coagulation component, the drought strength component, the water reduction component, the water retention component and water according to a certain proportion, on the basis of ensuring that the use indexes of the admixture reach the standard, the hydration of C3A or gypsum in cement is inhibited, the setting time is significantly prolonged, meanwhile, the crack resistance of concrete is improved, the outstanding effect of the admixture on the concrete is reflected, and development of concrete manufacturing and related construction with special requirements on setting time are met.
