Method for producing a ceramic sanitary article (11), more particularly a washbasin or washstand, wherein a mold is used to produce, from a ceramic composition (1), a green body (3), which is subsequently fired in a firing to form a fired body (7), where the fired body (7) after the firing is subjected to material-removing working on one or more visible faces (8) until it has a desired dimension,after which the worked body (7) is glazed at least on the worked visible face or faces (8) and is fired a further time in order to fire the glaze.
