The invention discloses a pedal type door locking device which comprises a lock catch part fixed to a wall and a mechanical transmission device installed on a door. The mechanical transmission devicecomprises a pedal, a metal pull rope, a steering pulley, a front cover, a rear cover, a ratchet wheel and a plug pin, the front cover is of a hollow structure, a guide rail is arranged at the inner side, and the front cover is located at the left side of the rear cover; the ratchet wheel and the plug pin are arranged in the front cover, and the plug pin is located at the left side of the ratchet wheel; a spring abuts against the position between the left side of the ratchet wheel and a baffle to provide elastic force; an upper pedal is connected with the metal pull rope, and the metal pull rope crosses over the steering pulley, passes through the rear cover, penetrates through the spring and a hole in the middle of the ratchet wheel and is finally connected with the plug pin; and the ratchet wheel, the plug pin and a guide rail in the rear cover are matched to achieve stretching and drawing of the plug pin. According to the device for opening and closing the door through mechanical transmission, a foot stepping manner is completely adopted for driving, and the hands of people are prevented from making contact with a door handle or the plug pin.
