The composite damping column comprises an outer-layer shell plate, a first buffer material, a limiting cylinder, a limiting rod and a second buffer material. The outer-layer shell plate is connected with the supporting base plate, a limiting annular groove is formed in the bearing plate, the outer-layer shell plate is inserted into the limiting annular groove, and the outer-layer shell plate and the limiting annular groove are spaced. The first buffer material is accommodated in the outer-layer shell plate; the first buffering material is provided with a containing space, the limiting cylinder and the limiting rod are contained in the containing space, the limiting cylinder is connected with the bearing plate, the limiting rod is connected with the supporting base plate, the limiting rod is partially contained in the limiting cylinder, and the second buffering material is contained in the limiting cylinder. And the second buffer material is accommodated in the limiting cylinder. The first buffer material comprises a plurality of first shock absorption cushion layers and a plurality of first shock absorption partition plates, and the second buffer material comprises a plurality of second shock absorption cushion layers and a plurality of second shock absorption partition plates. According to the bridge steel structure, durability and supporting performance are improved.
