The invention discloses a green porous building material taking polished tile mud as a raw material and a preparation method of the green porous building material. The building material is prepared from the following components in percentage by mass: 60-75% of polished tile mud, 5-15% of perlite, 1.9-5.6% of talc, 5-10% of bentonite, 3-7% of albite, 2-6% of potassium feldspar, 1-3% of calcite and 0.1-0.4% of silicon carbide micro powder. According to the method, the polished tile mud is used as a main raw material, a large amount of polished tile mud is consumed, a new thought is provided for achieving high-value utilization of the polished tile mud, and the prepared porous building material product is excellent in mechanical property index and uniform in bubble distribution and can be applied to a wall thermal insulation material.
