The invention discloses a polycarboxylic acid water reducing agent and a preparation method thereof, and the water reducing agent comprises the following substances in parts by weight: 100-150 parts of unsaturated polyoxyethylene ether, 10-15 parts of unsaturated carboxylic acid, 4-8 parts of sodium methallyl sulfonate, 2-5 parts of dibenzoyl peroxide, 1-5 parts of an astragalus extract, 1-8 parts of fluconazole, 1-5 parts of ferrous sulfate and 100-150 parts of water. The unsaturated polyoxyethylene ether, the unsaturated carboxylic acid, the sodium methallyl sulfonate, the dibenzoyl peroxide, the astragalus extract, the fluconazole, the ferrous sulfate and other substances are mixed, so that the yield of the obtained olycarboxylic acid water reducing agent is high in the free radical copolymerization reaction of the unsaturated polyoxyethylene ether and the unsaturated carboxylic acid, meanwhile, the addition of water is reduced, and the solid content is greatly improved.
