The tamping device comprises a tamping vehicle body, a mounting seat, a tamping hammer and a driving mechanism, wherein the driving mechanism comprises a fixing plate, a driving plate fixedly arranged on the top surface of the fixing plate, a driving assembly used for enabling the driving plate to move downwards, a reset spring used for enabling the driving plate to move upwards, a connecting plate fixedly arranged between the tamping hammer and the fixing plate, and a dustproof assembly arranged between the tamping hammer and the fixing plate; the top end of the driving plate penetrates through the top surface of the mounting seat and is in sliding connection with the mounting seat; the dustproof assembly comprises a dustproof sleeve arranged on the outer circumferential surface of the tamping hammer in a sleeving mode, a mounting plate fixedly arranged at the top end of the dustproof sleeve, and a buffer spring fixedly arranged between the mounting plate and the fixing plate; and a through groove is formed in the mounting plate. According to the tamping device, through mutual cooperation of the dustproof sleeve, the mounting plate and the buffer spring, the influence of flying dust generated by contact between the tamping hammer and the ground on the construction environment is reduced.
