The multifunctional mortar bonding additive comprises the following raw material components in parts by mass: 10-40 parts of filler, 0.001-10 parts of a water reducing agent, 20-60 parts of rubber powder, 5-20 parts of cellulose ether and 0.001-5 parts of a thixotropic agent. The multifunctional mortar bonding additive provided by the invention is prepared by uniformly stirring and mixing the weighed materials according to the required proportion; the mortar bonding additive provided by the invention has multiple purposes, can be used for ceramic tile bonding mortar, and can also be used for interior wall plastering mortar and the like. When in use, the mortar bonding additive is dissolved in water, fully and uniformly stirred, then added into uniformly mixed cement mortar, uniformly stirred, left to stand for 2 minutes, and then stirred for 1 minute.
