The invention discloses a tin oxide ceramic resistor and a preparation method thereof, and belongs to the field of power electronic component manufacturing. The tin oxide ceramic resistor is prepared from more than five kinds of metal and/or nonmetal simple substances, oxides or compounds as raw materials through the working procedures of ball milling, granulation, compression molding, sintering, electrode metallization, cap press-fitting, insulating coating packaging, color ring marking and the like. The tin oxide ceramic resistor product prepared by the preparation method disclosed by the invention has the characteristics of no inductance, high energy impact resistance and high voltage resistance, and makes up the limitation of a traditional wire-wound resistor or film-type resistor in the aspects of high voltage resistance, pulse resistance and high frequency resistance; the tin oxide ceramic resistor is suitable for high-voltage pulse lines, medium-high frequency circuits, high electric energy absorption circuits, intermittent power supply circuits and the like.
