The invention discloses a safety protection device for an elevator shaft opening. The safety protection device comprises a protection cover and a mounting frame. The mounting frame is fixedly mounted on a model of the elevator shaft opening; the protection cover is fixedly mounted on the mounting frame; the protection cover comprises a first protection cover and a plurality of second protection covers; the first protection cover is of a rectangular structure; the second protection covers are of hollow rectangular structures; the multiple second protection covers are sequentially arranged on the outer side of the first protection cover in a sleeving mode from inside to outside; the mounting frame is of a telescopic structure; the minimum telescopic distance is matched with the width of the single second protection cover; and the maximum telescopic distance is matched with the total width of the multiple second protection covers. According to the safety protection device for the elevator shaft opening, through the arrangement of the protection cover, the problem that no safe and appropriate standing point exists for construction workers at the position of an elevator shaft is effectively solved. The arrangement of the mounting frame ensures that the safety protection device at the opening of the elevator shaft can bear no less than 1 KN/m<2>.
