The invention discloses a river channel closure method. The river channel closure method comprises the following steps that 1, at the end of a flood season or in the early stage of a dry season, a first-stage diaphragm wall construction platform is pre-occupied; 2, a dike head of the first-stage diaphragm wall construction platform conducts anti-scour protection on the pre-occupied end of the first-stage diaphragm wall construction platform; 3, first-stage diaphragm wall construction is started, and downstream side weir body trailing filling construction of the first-stage diaphragm wall construction platform is conducted; 4, when the flow of a river channel is the dry flow in the dry season, second-stage diaphragm wall construction platform occupation closure is conducted, and a riverbed is cut off; 5, after a second-stage diaphragm wall construction platform occupies the closure cut-off riverbed, second-stage diaphragm wall construction is started, and downstream side weir body trailing filling construction of the second-stage diaphragm wall construction platform is conducted; and 6, after the first-stage diaphragm wall construction platform and the second-stage diaphragm wall construction platform are both occupied, river channel closure is completed.
