The invention relates to an online consultation system and method. The system comprises a consultation doctor module which is used for enabling a consultation doctor to initiate consultation and control the consultation process, a patient module which is used for a patient to receive the consultation condition, the quotation and the consultation scheme forwarded by the consultation doctor, an expert module which is used for enabling experts to participate in consultation and giving a consultation scheme, a consultation chat room which is used for providing a consultation chat room, and a background management module which is used for managing the consultation doctor module, the patient module, the expert module and the consultation chat room. The online consultation method adopts an online consultation system to realize systematic online consultation which is not limited to regions, hospitals and expert types. Therefore, the problems that consultation participants are limited, and consultation is not systematized enough in the prior art are are solved. According to the online consultation system and method of the invention, people participating in consultation are no longer limited; and online consultation is more systematized, so that the treatment effect is improved.
