The invention discloses a road surface widening method for expressway engineering, which comprises the following steps of: 1, carrying out measurement preparation work before construction, measuring the width of a two-way lane on an original road surface, dividing the measured width value by two to obtain the width of two sides of the widened road surface, and conveying raw materials required for widening the road surface to a stacking position of a construction site; 2, widening the highway subgrade, laying the subgrade soil conveyed to the construction site at the two sides of the original highway subgrade, tamping the subgrade soil by tamping equipment after laying is completed, then laying a gravel mixed material on the compacted subgrade soil, and laying the gravel mixed material on the roadbed soil, and finally, laying a layer of concrete on the laid gravel mixed material, and performing trowelling treatment. Normal use of the expressway is not affected in the road surface widening construction process, and the problem that the traffic flow of the expressway is increased and the expressway is crowded due to the fact that a construction road section needs to be subjected to road closure treatment in an existing construction method is solved.
