Roof window system having ventilation unit mounted adjacent to roof window, and method of providing ventilation for building
The present invention relates to a roof window system configured to be mounted in an opening of a roof structure of a building and comprising a ventilation unit configured to be mounted adjacent to a roof window and adapted to provide ventilation for an interior of the building to which the roof window is mounted. A roof window includes a frame defining a frame plane and including a pane mounted therein. The frame includes a top frame member, a bottom frame member, and two side frame members that together form a window structure defining a frame opening and each have an inner side, an outer side, an inner side, and an outer side. The ventilation unit is configured to be disposed mainly adjacent to an outer side of the frame member and includes a lower side. The roof window system further includes a ventilation panel that allows air to pass from one side thereof to the other side thereof, thereby defining a target air flow direction, the ventilation panel configured to face an interior of the building and extend away from an interior side of the frame member, the ventilation unit being mounted adjacent to the interior side.
