The invention relates to the use of slag as a filler and/or binder in concrete or cement in the construction industry, as a black hard block, and/or as a high-density ballast. The invention relates to slag comprising, in dry basis and in the sum of metals present in elemental metals and metals present in oxidation states: a) at least 7% wt and at most 49% wt Fe; b) up to 1.3% wt Cu; c) at least 24% wt and at most 44% wt SiO2; d) CaO of at least 1.0% wt and at most 20% wt; e) at least 0.10% wt and at most 1.50% wt of Zn; f) MgO of at least 0.10% wt and at most 2.5% wt; and g) up to 0.100% wt of Pb.
