The method modifies loess by using modified silica sol to obtain the modified loess, and comprises the following steps: uniformly spraying a nano silica sol solution into the loess, continuously spraying water to enable the water content of the loess to reach 15-17%, sealing with a film, storing in a dry and shade place for 2-3 days, stirring and uniformly mixing, and maintaining for 3-5 days to obtain the modified loess. Through the method, the specific surface area of loess can be increased, the loess pore number is reduced, and the permeability coefficient is reduced; the anti-seepage liner is used for preparing the anti-seepage liner for the refuse landfill; AND the full utilization of loess resources is realized, the construction cost of the refuse landfill is saved, and the pollution of the landfill leachate to underground water is reduced.
