The gravity retaining wall comprises wall body precast blocks and reinforcing parts; and the reinforcing parts are arranged in the wall body prefabricated blocks; the adjacent wall body prefabricated blocks are connected through the reinforcing parts to be assembled to form supporting and blocking parts, and the supporting and blocking parts are located on the outer side of a side slope to play a supporting and blocking role on the side slope. According to the supporting and blocking parts of the gravity retaining wall, the construction efficiency is improved by assembling the wall body precast blocks on site, and the structural strength of the gravity retaining wall is improved by connecting the adjacent wall body precast blocks through the reinforcing parts. The bottoms of the supporting and blocking parts formed by assembling the wall body prefabricated blocks are pressed into a foundation pit of the side slope, and the stability of a base of the gravity retaining wall and the anti-overturning capacity of the gravity retaining wall are improved. The gravity retaining wall provided by the embodiment of the invention has the advantages of high structural strength and high construction efficiency. The invention further provides a construction method of the gravity retaining wall. The construction method has the advantages of being high in construction efficiency, capable of saving resources and high in structural strength.
