The monitoring method comprises the following steps: collecting illumination data of an ambient light sensor of the intelligent door lock; judging whether the illumination data meets a preset condition or not; if the preset condition is met, activating a camera device of the intelligent door lock; wherein the camera device of the intelligent door lock is in a dormant state for saving energy, the more energy-saving ambient light sensor collects illumination data in real time, when the illumination data meets the preset condition, it is indicated that the environment where the intelligent door lock is located is changing, and at the moment, the camera device is activated to collect images for a user to perform checking remotely; therefore, the electric energy of the intelligent door lock is saved to the greatest extent.
