The present disclosure provides a vehicle lift door assembly. A vehicle includes a body. A lift door assembly is coupled to the vehicle body, the lift door assembly including a frame pivotally coupled to the vehicle and operable to pivot between a closed position and an open position above the vehicle at the closed position. An upper panel is pivotally coupled to the frame and is operable to pivot relative to the frame between a closed position and an open position above the lift door in the closed position. A lower panel is pivotally coupled to the frame and is operable to pivot relative to the frame between a closed position and an open position below the lift door in the closed position. The upper plate and the lower plate are releasably coupled to each other when the upper plate is in the closed position and the lower plate is in the closed position.
