An energy-saving street lamp for public places is disclosed. The street lamp comprises the ground, a lamp post is fixedly installed on the ground, two symmetrically-arranged LED lamps are fixedly installed on the lamp post, a lightning rod is fixedly installed on the top wall of the lamp post, a battery jar is formed in the ground, a storage battery is fixedly installed in the battery jar, the output end of the storage battery is fixedly connected with an electric wire, the other end of the electric wire is electrically connected with the input end of the LED lamp, and a mounting groove is formed in the ground. When a pedestrian walks and steps on a pedal, a rack plate moves to drive a driving gear to rotate in a meshed mode, at the moment, a rotating rod rotates to drive a first bevel gear and a second bevel gear to rotate in a meshed mode, and a cutting plate is driven to rotate to be matched with a magnetic induction box to achieve magnetic induction cutting; according to the principle of magnetic induction cutting, generated electricity is transmitted to the storage battery through the wire to be stored, energy storage of the storage battery is guaranteed, power is continuously supplied to the LED lamp, and the use requirement of the energy-saving street lamp is met.
