The invention relates to an automatic track irregularity detection control method for a railway tamping wagon, which comprises the steps of data acquisition, data processing and control execution. During data acquisition, a three-point method is utilized to measure a normal value, a leveling value and an ultra-high value at equidistant points of a to-be-tamped area of a railway line; and the directional deviation, the transverse horizontal deviation and the longitudinal horizontal deviation of the railway line are obtained by utilizing the versine sensor (3), the electronic pendulum (4) and the leveling sensor (5). During data processing, through an algorithm controller, a theoretical normal vector value is obtained, waveform recovery of a normal vector difference is achieved, front-end offset is obtained, a theoretical leveling value is obtained, waveform recovery of a leveling value difference is achieved, and a leveling correction value is obtained. During control execution, the computer (6) outputs track irregularity parameters such as a theoretical normal value, a front-end offset, a theoretical leveling value and a leveling correction value, and controls the tamping wagon to complete line maintenance operation. The method has the advantages of being simple in structure, convenient to maintain, reliable in detection data and accurate in control process.
