The invention discloses an adjustable keel for building decoration and an adjusting method. The adjustable keel comprises a first keel body, a second keel body and a height adjusting piece detachably connected between the first keel body and the second keel body. The height adjusting piece comprises an upper fixing rod detachably fixed to the first keel body, a lower fixing rod detachably fixed to the second keel body and a telescopic piece connected between the upper fixing rod and the lower fixing rod. The height adjusting piece is detachably fixed between the first keel body and the second keel body, so that the technical problem that a keel cannot be adjusted after being installed in the prior art is solved. According to the adjustable keel, lossless disassembly and assembly are achieved, punching, welding and cutting do not need to be conducted on an installation frame piece of the keel in the installation process, and therefore the phenomenon that the installation frame piece of the keel is damaged in the installation process can be effectively avoided, and meanwhile the phenomenon that the installation frame piece of the keel deforms is avoided.
