The invention provides an excavation method of a roadbed adjacent to an existing railway. The excavation method of the roadbed adjacent to the existing railway comprises the following steps of arranging a fixed blocking piece on one side, close to a new railway line, of an existing railway line, wherein the fixed blocking piece and the existing railway line are arranged at a first preset distance; arranging a movable blocking piece between the fixed blocking piece and the new railway line, wherein the distance between the movable blocking piece and the fixed blocking piece can be adjusted along with construction; performing excavation by using a breaking hammer or static blasting excavation when the distance between the existing railway line and the new railway line is smaller than a second preset distance; and performing step-by-step reserved partition wall excavation when the distance between the existing railway line and the new railway line is larger than the second preset distance and is smaller than a third preset distance. The excavation method of the roadbed adjacent to the existing railway has the advantage of simplicity, and the situation that side slope mudstone rolls down to cause danger or influence normal operation of the existing railway line can be prevented.
