The invention discloses a high-strength aluminum oxide foamed ceramic and a preparation method thereof, the high-strength aluminum oxide foamed ceramic is obtained by uniformly dipping and coating a sponge body with precursor dipping slurry, and drying and sintering, wherein the precursor dipping slurry is prepared from the following raw materials in parts by weight: 60 to 75 parts of alpha-Al2O3 powder, 10 to 25 parts of kaolin, 6 to 14 parts of magnesite, 1 to 13 parts of silica powder, 3.5 to 4.5 parts of water glass and 6 to 10 parts of PVA (Polyvinyl Alcohol) solution. The aluminum oxide foamed ceramic provided by the invention has the performance of high strength and high through hole rate. The invention provides a preparation method of high-strength aluminum oxide foamed ceramic, which can ensure low-temperature firing of the ceramic and avoid environmental pollution in the preparation process.
