The invention discloses an axial stepped viscoelastic damper. The axial stepped viscoelastic damper comprises a sleeve and a first-order traction tube, wherein the sleeve and the first-order traction tube are hollow, and one end of each of the sleeve and the first-order traction tube is open; an inner tube is arranged in the sleeve; the first-order traction tube is inserted between the sleeve and the inner tube from the open end of the sleeve; a first-order viscoelastic damping layer is arranged between the first-order traction tube and the inner tube; a stop ring is arranged on the edge of one end, in the sleeve, of the first-order traction tube; a stop piece is arranged at one end, outside the sleeve, of the first-order traction tube; a second-order traction tube is arranged between the sleeve and the first-order traction tube; the second-order traction tube is shorter than the first-order traction tube; a second-order viscoelastic damping layer is arranged between the sleeve and the second-order traction tube; a first connector is arranged at one end, far away from the opening, of the sleeve; and a second connector is arranged outwards on the stop piece. The axial stepped viscoelastic damper disclosed by the invention is different in energy dissipation capacity under the action of different seismic forces, realizes self-adaption of the energy dissipation capacity of the damper to structural response under the action of different seismic forces, realizes axial action energy dissipation, and can be connected with a structure in a supporting manner.
