The invention discloses a drill rod manhole detector. The drill rod manhole detector comprises a support frame, an adjustable base, an installing frame, an exploring tube, a metal detection rod, a visual probe and a display device, wherein the adjustable base is arranged on the supporting frame; the installing frame is fixed on the adjustable base; the exploring tube penetrates through the installing frame and the adjustable base in a sliding manner, and scales are marked on the exploring tube; the metal detection rod is arranged in the exploring tube in a way capable of spirally ascending and descending; the visual probe is arranged at the lower end of the metal detection rod; the display device is arranged on the installing frame; and the display device is connected to the visual probe and is used for receiving, storing and displaying the image information acquired by the visual probe. The drill rod manhole detector can obtain accurate data and image information of unfavorable geological stratums in basic bearing stratums. In addition, the invention further provides a drill rod manhole detector and a detection method, and the scale of the unfavorable geological strata in the foundation bearing stratum can be accurately detected.
