The invention discloses a novel grass planting brick for riverbed ecological restoration and a construction method. The novel grass planting brick comprises brick bodies, wherein cavities are machined in the brick bodies, planting grooves are formed in the brick bodies, a plurality of evenly-distributed water permeable openings are machined in the side walls of the planting grooves, and a fixing hole is machined in one vertex angle portion of each brick body; splicing notches are machined in the other vertex angle portions of the brick bodies; and the vertex angle portions of every three brick bodies are tightly attached. The stability and the ecological property can be considered, meanwhile, the grass planting brick can be suitable for plant planting of riverbeds with complex terrains, hard riverbeds and soft riverbeds by splicing a plurality of modules, and the plant survival rate is increased.
