This columnar honeycomb structure has: an outer peripheral wall; and a porous partition wall which is disposed inside the outer peripheral wall and forms a plurality of partitioned cells that penetrate from one end surface to the other end surface to form a flow path, wherein a collection layer having an average pore size smaller than an average pore size of the partition wall is provided on a surface of the partition wall in the cell, and magnetic particles having a Curie point of at least 700 DEG C are provided between the surface of the partition wall and the collection layer and either side or both sides of the collection layer.
