The invention discloses an upright sound barrier and a top structure thereof, which aims to improve the sound insulation and noise reduction effects of the sound barrier. Thus, on one hand, the top structure of the upright sound barrier comprises an outer cylinder and an inner cylinder, wherein the outer cylinder and the inner cylinder are coaxially arranged, both the outer cylinder and the inner cylinder are made of micro-perforated plates, an annular cavity is formed between the inner cylinder and the outer cylinder, and the outer cylinder, the inner cylinder and the annular cavity form a micro-perforated plate sound absorption structure; and a first sound insulation material layer which is used for axially separating the annular cavity halfway is vertically arranged in the inner cylinder, and a second sound insulation material layer which is used for axially separating an inner cavity of the inner cylinder halfway is vertically arranged in the inner cylinder.
