The invention relates to a metal damper coated with a polyurea elastomer. The metal damper comprises a shearing energy dissipation unit (5), an upper connecting part (1) and a lower connecting part (2), wherein the upper connecting part (1) and the lower connecting part (2) are horizontally arranged at the top and the bottom of the shearing energy dissipation unit (5) up and down respectively. The shear energy consumption unit (5), the upper connecting part (1) or the lower connecting part (2) is coated with a polyurea elastomer coating (6). Compared with the prior art, the energy dissipation capacity of the damper is improved, the defects that a metal damper is poor in fire resistance and corrosion resistance are overcome in a targeted mode, and the metal damper device is simple in structure, low in manufacturing difficulty, simple and convenient to use.
