The invention relates to a method for reinforcing a thermal insulation layer of an outer wall of an existing building. The method comprises the following steps of drilling a plurality of glue injection holes in the thermal insulation layer in a to-be-reinforced range, and arranging the plurality of glue injection holes according to a matrix array; injecting polyurethane polystyrene foam between the heat preservation layer and a base layer wall body in batches through the glue injection holes, in the adjacent columns of glue injection holes, the glue injection holes used for first-comment glue injection are arranged in a staggered mode, in the same column of glue injection holes, the glue injection holes used for the first-comment glue injection are arranged at intervals; after the first-comment glue injection is completed, second-comment glue injection is conducted through the remaining glue injection holes; and during the second-comment glue injection, when the glue injection pressure is increased to exceed a set value, glue injection is stopped, by means of the method, the problem that the heat preservation layer falls off from the outer wall during reinforcement is avoided.
