The invention discloses a toilet disinfection device and method, and the device comprises a liquid storage device which is used for storing a disinfectant; a micro water pump which is connected with the liquid storage device and is used for pumping the disinfectant to the spray head; a mechanical arm which comprises a liquid conveying hose and a spray head, wherein the liquid conveying hose is used for connecting the micro water pump and the spray head, and the mechanical arm is used for disinfecting a preset area according to a preset movement mode; an infrared sensor which is used for detecting a user; and a control system which is connected with the micro water pump and the mechanical arm and used for controlling the mechanical arm to move according to information of the infrared sensor. According to the technical scheme, articles such as bolts, closestools, flushing buttons and the like which are frequently contacted by users in the public washroom can be disinfected immediately and quickly after the users leave the washroom, so that the risk of spreading bacteria and viruses is greatly reduced, and the body health of the public is guaranteed.
