The preparation method of the binder of the porous ceramic comprises the following steps: calcining reaction raw materials at 1200-1350 DEG C to obtain the binder, wherein the binder comprises the following components in percentage by mass: 5-50% of Al2O3, 5-33% of SiO2, 2-50% of alkaline earth metal oxide and 1-43% of B2O3, and the sum of the content of Al2O3, SiO2, alkaline earth metal oxide and B2O3 is at least 90.5%. The binder of the porous ceramic is prepared by adopting the above preparation method. The preparation method of the porous ceramic comprises the following steps: uniformly mixing 5-28 parts of the binder and 100 parts of ceramic particles, pressing and sintering. The porous ceramic is prepared by the preparation method. The porous ceramic has excellent low-temperature mechanical properties and can be applied to filtration and purification of aluminum alloy melt.
