The invention belongs to the technical field of agricultural non-point source pollution, and particularly relates to a drainage basin ditch water pollutant intercepting and purifying method which comprises the following steps: (1) constructing an ecological ditch; (2) planting plants: planting creeping plants capable of purifying water on the soil covering strips; planting herbaceous plants capable of absorbing nitrogen and phosphorus pollutants in the planting areas, wherein the herbaceous plants comprise bermuda grass, vetiver grass and pennisetum purpureum, one kind of herbaceous plants is planted in each planting area, and the varieties of the herbaceous plants in the adjacent planting areas are different. According to the method, the farmland in the drainage basin serves as a source, stepped interception is conducted through the timber pile fences on the two sides of the ditch and the plants planted on the ditch bottom partition sections, nitrogen and phosphorus pollutants lost in the farmland are absorbed, intercepted and adsorbed by the plants planted in the ditch, and the effect that the nitrogen and phosphorus pollutants in the ditch water are reduced from the source and utilized to reduce water pollution is achieved.
