The method comprises the following steps: S1 the water content of an expansive soil slope is measured, and an atmospheric influence range value is determined; S2 the slope top and the slope surface of the self-expansive soil slope are excavated, a plurality of step surfaces are formed, and the excavation depth is larger than the atmospheric influence range value; S3 the step surface is covered with geomembranes, and the geomembranes are arranged on the step surface in a stepped shape; S4 multiple soil engineering bags are all filled with backfill soil, the multiple soil engineering bags are divided into multiple sets, and the sets of soil engineering bags are laid on the geomembranes in a layered mode and located above the step surface; and S5, the sides, away from the expansive soil slope, of the multiple sets of soil engineering bags and the upper ends of the multiple soil engineering bags located on the uppermost portion are covered with protective layers correspondingly. According to the expansive soil slope protection method, the expansive soil slope is effectively prevented from cracking, and the landslide phenomenon is avoided.
