Side door latch
A side door latch (10) includes an integrated motor (14) and a power release gear (12) for performing a power release function of the latch, wherein rotation of the motor (14) in a power release direction drives the power release gear (12) to sequentially strike a power release lever (16) to move a pawl release lever (16), so that the former may interact with a pawl lifter (38). The pawl lifter (38) is connected to the latch pawl (32), thereby allowing the pawl (30) to rotate to its open position. The side door latch (10) further comprises a take-up override lever (36) which allows the take-up function to be cancelled at any time of the take-up stroke by interacting with the take-up override clutch (34), in turn with the take-up device, to connect the override clutch link (20) to the pawl release lever and the take-up override clutch levers (22, 34). These interactions within the latch will allow the take-up drive link (28) to disengage from the latch pawl (30).
