The invention discloses a gypsum plaster board with formaldehyde purification and mildew prevention functions and a preparation method thereof.The gypsum plaster board comprises surface protection paper and a board core, and the board core is prepared from gypsum clinker, volcanic ash slag, quick lime, glass fibers and starch; the board core is wrapped by the surface protection paper, and the surface of the surface protection paper is coated with a water-based coating; the water-based coating comprises water and nano titanium dioxide. Although the quicklime and the volcanic ash slag are added into the gypsum plaster board, the bonding between the gypsum board core and the surface protection paper cannot become poor, and the strength and the water resistance of the gypsum board can be improved.
