The invention discloses unfired ceramsite with sodium silicate-bonded sand dust and carbide slag as excitants and preparation of the unfired ceramsite, and belongs to the technical field of solid waste and hazardous waste resource recycling. The unfired ceramsite disclosed by the invention comprises the following components: 10%-50% of sodium silicate sand dust, 4%-15% of carbide slag and the balance of a material with volcanic ash activity. The preparation method comprises the following steps: ball-milling the sodium silicate sand dust and the dried carbide slag together, mixing the ball-milled powder with the fly ash, the mineral powder, the red mud and other materials with volcanic ash activity, uniformly stirring to obtain mixed powder, then carrying out ball rolling molding by using a ball rolling machine to prepare a ceramsite blank, and standing and curing to obtain the medium-high strength unfired ceramsite with good performance. According to the invention, the sodium silicate sand dust and the carbide slag are used as excitants to replace an alkali activator which is high in price and used in the traditional unfired ceramsite, so that the preparation cost of the unfired ceramsite is greatly reduced, and the unfired ceramsite with relatively high economic benefits is obtained.
