The invention discloses a foundation pit protection device for road and bridge construction, and relates to the technical field of construction protection devices. The whole side guardrail is jointly composed of a left vertical supporting branch pipe, a right vertical supporting branch pipe, two transverse supporting square pipes welded to the upper ends and the lower ends of the two vertical supporting branch pipes, and a thin aluminum plate welded between the two vertical supporting branch pipes in a blocking mode. The two side guardrails are symmetrically arranged, and four side breast boards are rotationally mounted on four vertical supporting pipes; and two top covers are oppositely and rotationally installed on two transverse supporting square pipes at the top ends of the two side guardrails, four sets of transverse supporting positioning shafts are symmetrically welded to the top end sections of four vertical supporting branch pipes, and the four sets of transverse supporting positioning shafts are each slidably sleeved with a sliding part. When the two top covers are turned over and closed, the two top covers, the four side breast boards and the thin aluminum plates on the two side guardrails form a relatively closed space which can be used as a rain shelter for operation in rainy days, the function of the protection device is expanded, and the problem that the function of the protection device is single is solved.
