The invention relates to the technical field of building materials, in particular to a modified fiber for inorganic thermal insulation mortar and a production process thereof, and the production process comprises the following steps: respectively cutting a polypropylene raw material and a wood raw material to obtain polypropylene fiber and wood fiber; the raw materials comprise, by weight, 0.4-1 part of polypropylene fiber, 0.4-1 part of cellulose ether and 1-3 parts of wood fiber; the polypropylene fiber, the cellulose ether and the wood fiber in proportion are poured into a stirring mechanism to be stirred to obtain the modified fiber, and the prepared modified fiber is added into the raw materials for preparing the inorganic thermal insulation mortar, so that the heat conductivity coefficient of the prepared inorganic thermal insulation mortar can be reduced; the problem that existing inorganic thermal insulation mortar is poor in thermal insulation effect is solved.
