A blank (34) for manufacturing a wear member (30) of a ground engaging tool (10) includes a unitary block (35) having a boss channel (72) and a keyhole (37) both formed therein. The unitary block (35) includes a peripheral edge (94) projecting on lateral sides (66, 68) and a forward end (58) of the unitary block (35), the peripheral edge (94) starting and ending at a rearward end (60) of the block (35) to form a continuous weld interface (96) being a partial perimeter of the unitary block (35) for welding to a body of a wear member (38). The blank (34) may be used to make a variety of different wear members (30), including shrouds, tooth tips, edge protectors, and the like.
