The invention provides forsterite-based foamed ceramic for carbon sequestration, the forsterite-based foamed ceramic for carbon sequestration comprises main materials and additives, the main materials comprise forsterite, natural minerals and a conditioning agent, and the additives comprise cellulose and a surfactant; the invention also provides a preparation method of the forsterite-based foamed ceramic for carbon sequestration. Through cooperation of an additive material and a modifier material and through soaking and heat treatment steps, a layer of crystal phase with higher strength is attached to the surface of the hollow hole rib of the polyester foamed ceramic, so that the physical strength of the foamed plastic is improved, and combination of high carbon dioxide absorption efficiency and high structural strength is achieved; after absorbing carbon dioxide, the foamed ceramic can be widely applied to multiple fields such as building, metallurgy, aviation and medical treatment by virtue of high-strength mechanical properties, and the reutilization rate of the foamed ceramic material is improved.
